Angels 6, Mariners 4: Trout Silenced, Prop Card Splits
The Angels beat the Mariners 6-4 on Thursday night at T-Mobile Park, closing out a sloppy Seattle loss in a series with nothing at stake. The pitching matchup that anchored our handicap never held: both starters finished with four earned runs, and the game pushed past the under.
Our premium pick: 1-2.
- Moneyline โ Seattle: LOSS. Bryan Woo gave five and a third with eight strikeouts, but four earned runs, seven hits and three walks were enough for Los Angeles to take the lead for good.
- Run line โ Angels +1.5: WIN. The road side got there comfortably, which is exactly what the number was built to protect against.
- Total โ Under: LOSS. Ten combined runs cleared the number, and two starters who both allowed four earned runs is the simplest explanation.
Prop card. Christian Moore was the loudest miss on paper โ four at-bats, two hits, three RBI โ against an under 0.5 hits ticket that never had a chance. Cal Raleigh's under 0.5 hits held: two at-bats, no hits, two walks. Mike Trout's over 0.5 hits came up empty, going 0-for-3 with two walks and a strikeout.
What it means going forward. The run line was the right shape for a game with a shaky arm on one side and a rested bullpen on the other, and that logic traveled. The strikeout-fade angle on Moore and Raleigh was directionally sound but split โ Moore's contact profile beat the price. Expect us to lean harder on run-line protection in low-stakes September games and to be slower to fade hitters whose recent form is trending up, even when the season line looks ugly.
