Guardians Rout White Sox 9-3 in Game 3, Force ALDS Game 4
The Cleveland Guardians are not done yet. Facing elimination and down 2-0 in the ALDS, they broke out for a 9-3 win at Rate Field on Wednesday, turning a must-win Game 3 into a runaway and forcing a Game 4 back in Chicago on Thursday.
A three-run triple in the third cracked the game open, and Cleveland never let the White Sox back in it. The Guardians' offense, quiet through the first two games, finally arrived at the worst possible time for a Chicago club that was one win from advancing.
Our premium pick: White Sox moneyline โ LOSS. The read on Chicago closing it out at home never materialized. We also took the under, which lost as the two clubs combined for 12 runs. The run line did cash: Cleveland +1.5 was never in doubt.
Prop results:
- Chase DeLauter over 1.5 total bases โ LOSS. He finished 1-for-4 with a single, one total base, one RBI, and a walk. He needed two bases and got one.
- Munetaka Murakami over 0.5 walks โ LOSS. Murakami went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts and no walks. The plate discipline that made this play attractive simply wasn't there.
- Nathaniel Lowe under 0.50 hits โ WIN. Lowe went 0-for-2, though he walked three times and scored a run. The hit prop cashed exactly as drawn up.
The takeaway: lefty-on-lefty fades held up, but the White Sox side of this series has been overvalued. Chicago is now 0-1 in closeout spots, and the bats that carried them to a 2-0 lead have gone cold at home. For Game 4, the market may still be pricing Chicago's regular-season form rather than what this lineup is doing right now.
