Rams Fall to Broncos 30-26 on SNF as Our Los Angeles Picks Miss
The Rams left Empower Field with a 30-26 loss to the Broncos, and our premium card took the hit right alongside them. We called Los Angeles at -2.5, and it never got there. The moneyline on the Rams went down with it, and the Under on a game that finished with 56 combined points never had a chance.
Our model had this one at LAR 26, DEN 16 โ a ten-point margin against a number that needed only three. Instead Denver won by four, and the total sailed over. That's a clean sweep of losses on the spread, the moneyline, and the total, and there's no spinning it any other way.
The read on the matchup wasn't crazy. Los Angeles came in averaging 390.0 yards per game against a Denver offense sitting at 292.0, and Matthew Stafford's 482 yards, four touchdowns, two interceptions, 66.1% completion rate and 101.9 passer rating through two weeks looked like the steadier hand. The problem is that games aren't decided on paper, and Denver found the points when it mattered.
The takeaway is simple: a projection is not a result, and a four-point margin is exactly the kind of gap that makes a -2.5 look worse in hindsight than it did at kickoff. We'll take the loss, own it, and get back to work on the next slate.
Denver moves on with a win that says something about its resilience. Los Angeles leaves with a loss that raises real questions about finishing.
